I would like to congratulate Björn Åkesson on his win in the Polo Golf Junior Classic at GINN Reunion Resort in Orlando, FL. This was his first AJGA title and it came in their most prestigious event of the year. I am proud to say that Björn was the male recipient of the ANNIKA SORENSTAM GOLF SCHOLARSHIP earlier this year. I started this scholarship in 2003 as a way to inspire young golfers to improve their games, prepare for the future, and develop themselves as human beings. It's given to the best Swedish junior girl and boy each year.

I think it is great that you having scholarships for junior golfers! I read about that before on your website. Obviously, you're a nice judge of talent. Congratulations to Bjorn and to you for your commitment to junior golf.

Annika,
Reading your most recent comments and Wow . . . it's cool to see the offspring of seeds you've sown for the youth in Sweden already up and "sharing your passion for life"!! And golf.
THANK YOU for staying true to Sweden, but ALSO to America!! To me it is so RIGHT that you were born a Swede and brought up in the atmosphere of "lagom". Gosh I love anything that is balanced; that is to say "Swedish"!!
BUT!!! I also am so thankful for the temperment of America which is: Dream on, and "You GO Girl!!" We have a oportunity here and usually our blessings are so great that there's plenty to share with others.
I still shake my head in appreciation that you would CHOOSE to become an American citizen in this day and age when we seem to be looked upon with a jaundice eye.
I THANK YOU that you are willing to share how to live with a smile in the heart and on the face in a more balanced, daily realization that "little steps of progress, done daily, DO MATTER"!!

Is this really Annika?
Posted by: Jerry | November 25, 2007 at 10:02 AM
Yeah!! What Jerry said. Is this REALLY Annika?! :-)
If this is really Annika, what two rare and rather amazing things did you do during the practice rounds at Interlachen for the Solheim?! One was on #4 (reversed the nine's for the tournament) and one was on #10. I was witness to both.
Do you recall?!! They should be in your memory bank. :-)

This is really me :) However, I can't recall the two amazing things during the practice round at Interlachen...

Honestly, you really don't? How can we believe it's REALLY you?!!! Just kidding. :) You had a hole-in-one on #4!! You must have had a lot of them not to remember. You were playing with Carin Koch and, I think, Mhairi Mckay. It's also memorable for me because Carin asked me what all the cheering was about (she was in the rest room at the time), so I told her you just got a hole-in-one. She was relieved . . . because she thought we may have been cheering for her!!
And you went driver/4-iron on #10, a 530-yard hole with a 340-yard drive!!! Your coach even told me and another guy how excited you were about that drive. How can you forget a 340-yard drive?!!!
You are certainly the best female golfer ever to live, but I would think you would remember those things. Do you recall them now?!!!! :)
Incidentally, I know that it's really you. And you really are wonderful for being so active in your blog. Thank you again.

And good luck at the Lexus!! On paper, it doesn't look like it's going to be too close . . . but you never know, I guess. Your team looks strong. Good captain's picks, too.

Annika,
It's great that you support both female and male junior golfers.
Speaking of male golfers, I have 2 questions for you.
1. What did you learn specifically (not I learned a lot) about men's golf as played on the PGA TOUR that you did NOT know before you played in the 2003 Colonial?
2. If Lorena is asked to accept an exemption to a PGA TOUR event (perhaps a PGA TOUR event in Mexico) and Lorena came to you for your thoughts before she accepted, what would you tell her?
Thanks

Hi I would just like to comment on your favorite actors.
Your taste is like mine because my favorite actors are the same ones.
