I back home now after 30 hours of travel. It's fun to be away, but the old saying home sweet home is certainly true for me.
I am thrilled that I ended up with a win at the Dubai Ladies Masters. It was so great to be in contention again. I had almost forgotten how much I love the feeling of coming down the stretch and battling for the trophy. My adrenalin was flowing and I could feel the butterflies in my stomach. I finally got a win and it was a nice way to end the season. I am excited for 2008, because my motivation is back!!
Hi Annika,
Glad you and Mike are back home. Along with everyone else, I'm sure that your cats are happy that you won too! So break out the cat treats and toys and celebrate!

With your positive attitude and your will to do your best, there is no doubt that you are a winner. Congrats on the Dubai win.
I wish that it could have been televised. I enjoy watching your consistent and smooth golf swing.
Looking after things here in Palm Springs.
Merry Christmas and the very best to you and Mike for the New Year.

Annia,
30hr?? Geeezzzz!!! Glad you & Mike are back . . . as CHAMPIONS!!! It's fun to say that word because it's true in every way!!
Been really watching and listening to YOUR COMMENTS about how you've been adjusting to suttle and profound shifts in your life, and I'm really learning a lot about what it means to be "patient". It is certainly more than just gettin' through stuff.
Hmmmm . . . .Make a plan, take action, nuture with TIME.
Anyway, concerning "patience" the goal seems to be to come out with even more "child-like zeal and charisma". You know!! Just havin' a ball y'all !!
We salute you!!

How does Annika handle jet lag? I have to travel to Europe from time to time. Europe is not as distant as Dubai, yet jet lag still gives me fits. I noticed that after the HSBC tournament in New Rochelle last July, the top LGPA players all flew over to Europe on Monday and were playing competitively at Evian on Lake Geneva by Thursday. How did they do it? I need at least 3 days to recover from jet lag.

Fantastic! I'm so happy for you! You deserve it so much!
Merry christmas and happy new year!

What a true champ you are! I am so happy for you that you were able to end the year with a win - we knew you had it in you. Your determination and patience can teach the rest of us quite a lot. All good things come to people who are patient, right? Have a well deserved and restful holiday with the ones you love. Looking forward to your amazing golf dominance in 2008!

Annika,
In 2006 during an interview you made the following statement about a world golf tour.
-------------
How has the women's European tour changed since your first appearance in 1993?
I'm sad to say that it hasn't changed much. They've got pretty much the same number of tournaments, although some of the purses have improved. But the best players still leave to play in the States. We certainly have the players in Europe - we have won the Solheim Cup [the ladies' equivalent of the Ryder Cup competition between Europe and the United States] twice out of the last four, after all. Perhaps it would be best if we had a world tour. That is a concept that all the tours should work on together.
-------------------------------
My question is, has there been any serious discussions about consolidating the various women's tours into one worldwide tour?
Thanks.

Congratulations, Annika! Great website, too! I am always pleased to see positive things happen for you. It has been my pleasure to work with the LPGA Tour, its players--and especially you, Charlotta and your lovely parents---in the area of Player Transportation for the past seven years during the Phoenix stop on the Tour. Regardless of how busy life is for me in the month of March, it is a week that I always find exciting and energizing! I look for you to do great things in 2008! Keep focused! Have a wonderful holiday season.
My best to you, Charlotta, Tom, and Gunilla!

Just started reading your Blog! I really like it. Although I am going to have to work on Mike and the Steeler thing. Growing up in EP, he needs to be rooting for the OH team. (Go Browns). Congrats on ending the year in such a positive way, and Best of Luck in 2008!

Peg,
Appreciate you providing that picture. If anybody ever wants to know what makes a true champion, that expression says it all.

Hi Annika
The great champions like you and Tiger never give up until the ball is in the hole.
Merry Xmas to you and Team Annika.

Annika. I have followed your career since 1993 when I read a magazine while undergoing a heart transplant in hospital. I have followed you since.
I have another challenge now with the finding of Iynphoma in my neck.
Your positive attitude and your great golf gives me some direction to tackle these challenges.
Have a great Xmas and looking forward to your golf year 2008
Take care, Jerry Cameron

Hi Annika,
Just a quick question about the Wendy’s 3 Tour Challenge.
You played in 1996, 1997 and 1998, skipped 1999 and 2000 then played again in 2001 but you haven’t played since 2001.
I just wondered why you haven’t played since 2001?
Thanks

In a way, the injury and letdown in your game has a positive effect in the end: you've gained your motivation back!
I'm sure, winning regularly can make you feel like you've done it all and maybe even consider retiring. But now, facing the challenge to regain your quality game has probably got your juices flowing again--so maybe chef-dom can wait, eh Annika? After all, you can cook any time after you retire but to perform at the highest level, you can only achieve this now while you're still young.
I finally bought your book, "Golf Annika's Way", by the way (it's always sold out here in Manila) and I must say, it's the most useful and practical golf instructional book I've ever read (and I've probably gone through dozens). Aside from learning from it, I'm using it as a guide to teaching my 10-year-old daughter how to play so she can accompany me and my wife when we go golfing. Thank you so much for creating such a great and useful book.
I look forward to next year to seeing you more on the winner's dais.

John, Womens golf is growing, but I am not sure about a world wide tour. However, we have tournaments in several countries already. We are moving in the right direction, prize money, courses, fans, media coverage etc is increasing. Cheers for a great 2008.
Posted by: Annika | December 26, 2007 at 08:42 PM
Annika, I am such a fan. You are truly the best in the world. I have followed you for 10 years when I started golf. I have your book, watched you personally at many tournaments. How do you stay so focused. What do you tell yourself to stay in the moment. I have often watched you and you seem so in the Zone. What are your secrets?
