Greetings from Phoenix where I'm getting ready for tomorrow's first round of the Safeway International. We arrived late last night after the Tavistock Cup. I am playing well and have some great memories at this event, so I'm looking forward to adding to those this week!
Today was really special because I spent the morning practicing with with Pontus Widegren and Louise Larsson, two of the top junior golfers in Sweden. They were the 2008 recipients of the Annika Sorenstam Golf Scholarship, which I started five years ago to inspire young golfers to improve their games, prepare for the future, and develop themselves as human beings. Each year the recipients come to this event, practice with me and get to experience an LPGA event up close. This year, they even got to play in the pro-am, which was exciting!
In addition to that, recipients are given the opportunity to visit a few colleges in the United States where they can see what it takes to be an athlete on a college golf team. Pontus and Louise both looked at Arizona and ASU. Of course, I’m pulling for the Wildcats! They have a lot of talent and we were able to capture them on video, so look for that in the future. Then it was time for the pro-am. They will watch some golf tomorrow and then head back to Sweden. Hopefully, they will be inspired to keep up the good work.
Well I’m off to bed. I’ll check back in throughout the week.
Hi Annika,
I saw you on TV at Tavistock Cup and you hit so many quality shots.
Good Luck at the Safeway International and next week "the first MAJOR"!

Hi Annika,
Looking forward to this week's tournament. Your swing looks so solid and you seem to be having fun out there, so go get 'em.
I wanted to let you know that since I was at the Academy (end of Jan.) I broke my lowest score at my local 9 hole course...par 34 and I shot a 37 twice. Very exciting as I see the improvement. I have been working hard in the gym with what Kai gave me and am implementing Henri and Charlotta's amazing input. All in all I couldn't be happier. I look forward to the future and thanks again for your love of the game and for sharing it!!!!
Sincerely, Andi
