Looks like after the first few holes today you have your work cut out for you. It honestly doesn't matter to me how it ends up today, I only wanted you to make the cut for YOU! Anyway, best of luck, if anyone can do this, it is you, Big A!

I'm getting nervous but I know you can dig deep and find a way. I'm a little selfish and want to watch you for a couple more rounds. I also want you to enjoy your last experience rather than be frustrated. Chin up and enjoy the moment.

Thanks for the years of getting to watch you on tv in your sport. You were really neat to watch. Steve

Thanks for the years of getting to watch you play. It was really neat to get to watch you play your sport and sometimes it was the best thing on TV . Steve

Just watched your last hole, Golf Channel started early to cover it. What a class act you are. I thank you for so many years of enjoyment, you will be missed. Love and best wishes, from Alberta,to you and Mike(and of course your cats)as you start your new adventure together.

Turned on golf channel to see if they would maybe show your last hole and they did! I cried watching you walk off the green, but I was also happy for you. I'm going to miss watching you play but I know you'll have a great new chapter in your life and I wish you every success with that. Seeing you play this year in Ottawa was one of my favourite times ever. So thanks for all the memories Annika. You are a true hero and inspiration. :)

We're still here . . . thanks for all you've done and are doing.

Great things are in store for you and Mike and we rejoice!!

Annika

Thank you for all the fantastic memories you've given us over the years. Here's hoping the Lexus Cup and Dubai Ladies Masters give us a few more. May you and Mike be as happy in the future as I've been after watching you play at the British Open. It will never be quite the same without you

Annika,
I must admitt I cried when you finished on 18 today. You have been such a great champion and and have been such an inspiration for so many and for so long. And we know that will continue even as tour playing career comes to a close. Thank you so much for all you've given us and the game of golf.
We wish you and Mike all the best as you move to the next chapter in life together.
We will share your passion as we make our way to the Academy this coming February.
You are the best golfer of all time and as Mike says, an even better person.
Thanks for the memories-BK

Cristie Kerr and Lorena Ochoa waiting for you by the 18th green giving you warm hugs at the end of your round signifies the appreciation and affection that fellow pros and fans have for you. I found that very touching.

Annika, You have given to much to golf and the pure pleasure of watching such a class act. You are truly an inspiration to your fans. I must admit I was teary eyed when I saw you missed the cut at ADT. However, my take away are the fabulous shots I have seen you make since 1995 to date. That chip on 16 last week. The US open
shot on 18, the tree shot McDonald '05 on 16. I can't even imagine how emotional this week must have been for you. You are the best golfer in the world!! Thank you for all you have given to us over the years. Looking forward to seeing the Lexus Cup and Dubai Ladies Masters. Thanks for the memories. Best wishes to you, Mike and your family. You are blessed. Good Luck in your new endeavors and do hope you keep your blog and in touch with fans. How many lives you have touched. Quite a career from a young shy girl from Sweden. What a take away!!!prandall

Wow, this is one of those memories I will have for a lifetime...

Sitting on the couch - tears in my eyes - 7 months pregnant - telling my 4 yr old baby girl Monica and the new "bump" to watch you play your last LPGA hole "for a while"...Monica reminding me that she knows you and thinks you are the bestest and her favorite...telling them all about your career and the decade I have followed and watched almost every tournament...telling them how just last month we met you at Kapalua and you signed my hat and you were gracious enough to chat with me about this blog that we all love so much...

Annika you have been a tremendous champion and I can only hope that what lies behind you pales in comparison to what lies ahead...it's going to be a great ride for you and Mike.

I will miss you each and every Thurs thru Sunday golf weekend - you were a welcome addition to our home and a great inspiration.

I truly hope this blog continues to help us connect with you as your fans and your friends...

I'm so glad I'm not the only one who is a sap. I, too, cried for the end of an era. I must admit, right now I can't imagine caring quite so much about tuning in, but I know it's just some kind of grieving process I must go through as a hero leaves the competitive side of the game.

I am so grateful to have been watching during the "age of Annika." And I am grateful it isn't over outside the ropes. Someday, I am getting to that Academy!

And, of course, I plan to keep up through the blog as long as you and Mike are willing to share glimpses of the new adventure.

All the very best, Annika. I will miss watching you play.

Sue

Big A, I hope that you know that today means nothing to me, and that if you ever need an old fan or an old golf enthusiast for anything, I'd be there for you. I hope to make it to the Academy, and if nothing else, I hope we will see you on TV playing golf once in a while. As I said to you from the sidelines in Portland this year, YOU ARE THE BEST, ANNIKA!!!

Annika....
It is far from the end....It is just the beginning....you have proven yourself worthy to be called the "greatest golfer, ever".Now you are on course to become the "greatest wife", the "greatest mother" and the "greatest business woman".
Phew!! It's a good thing you are driven, and find it fun to be busy. I hope you will stay in touch with all of your fans, because, although you may be gone from the course, you will never be forgotten.
Take care, and Godspeed....

Annika,I feel like I lost someone or something very important to me today. It's the exact opposite feeling I had when watching you on TV. Even then, I'm almost sorry to admit, that I would feel a wee bit hostile toward any other golfer that had that magic tournament when they bested you. I've watched and studied and so very greatly enjoyed your "touch" - the combo of mind. body. genes, hard work and having the right team working with you produced, as many would say, not only statistically the world's greatest golfer but a major model of basic good human nature. As had been said, "Thanks for the memories". I was so happy to watch every single shot that the TV cameras would give of you to us and am so sad today, selfishly so.
Best of luck to you, you and Mike and your apparently wonderfully supportive family.
lizzie

Annika,

Just watched you sank you last putt on the LPGA, for now I hope. I wish you could hear all of us who were watching on TV. The applause for you came from all over the world and it was hundred times louder than what you heard.

Thank you for giving us so much. You haven't just touched the lives of other LPGA players and people whom you have met along the way. You have also got to all of us who watch you play and see you working really hard to get better. You have inspired us all.

Best wishes for you and Mike. Please keep the website and the blog so that all your fans can stay in contact with you.

Three cheers to the bloggers!! You all have done marvelously is saving me a bunch of words to speak.

I throw my hat in with yours!!

Annika,

What can I say-there will never be a golfer--person--like you.

Just like the other Liz post, I too felt like I lost part of me today. But knowing that YOU are happy and ready for bigger and better things (Mike and Family), I can wipe the tears because you are beginning the next chapter that will bring much happiness to you and Mike.

I am just so thankful that you came along durng my lifetime and I had the HONOR and PRIVILEGE of meeting you, talking to you, and follow your play at 2 tournaments.

When your wedding day arrives and the little Annikas and Mikes are bringing the two you more joy than anything else in the world, I'll have tears again---- tears of JOY!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

All my best you and your family---

YOU ARE THE ONE AND ONLY-----ANNIKA--THE GREATEST!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

Hi Annika the Golfer,

So proud to prowl your gallery these two days dressed in my ANNIKA Academy wear. There were many heavy hearts and not very much purring. But there were plenty of cheers of appreciation for all that you have done for Women's golf along with a level of play that will live on forever.

Between the Blog, The ANNIKA Academy Website & AnnikaSorenstam.com you will just be a click away! And let’s not leave out the The ANNIKA Academy – where we can see you Champ live and in person.

Wishing you safe travels to Singapore & Dubai, along with some good golf and enjoyable times.

And thanks for sharing your name with -

Annika the Cat

Annika,
I join the list of bloggers who shed a tear as you finished your round today. It was very special to be in your gallery this week. You are a tremendous person and you will continue to do great things. Someday I hope to visit your academy so I can tell you in person how much traveling to watch you the past decade has meant to me. Wishing you and Mike all the best.

Thanks for all the memories Annika!! Best of luck in Singapore and Dubai!!:)

Dear Annika:
It was my professional pleasure to have covered some of your outstanding career. On the Golf Channel today, you had Dottie tearing up in the anchor chair and me tearing up in my TV chair. All best in the future.

Wow,lets take this sad day and make it the beginning of a great new day. What you have done for women's golf is unmeasurable. The lives you have inspired and touched does not stop with today but grows every time a young one picks up a club and aspires to be like Annika. Its your time Annika,go pursue those other dreams you had stored away and live life enjoying the small things.Because that's what brings us true happiness.Thank you for sharing your passion with us all and we are forever fans and followers.May God bless you and Mike and your families.Kathy

You are the greatest!!!Happy trails!!

Simply The Best: It is the theme song I have heard in my head all day....and then as I watched your every shot, my husband appeared in the middle of his workday on hole 6 and we got serious. At 6 we asked Charlotta for her autograph. She was shy but said ok, and signed a photo I had taken of you from Wednesay. Then we asked your Dad, your Mom and Mike for their autographs on 7, and then Henry at the tee on 8. As we walked, we talked about this being a moment in time for you, for us, and for everyone. Along came Carolyn Bivens in a cart, she signed. Then Donald Trump, yes, he was glad to sign. And then we asked for yours at the finish. And finally we asked for Terry's. He complied as well. We have the most magnificent piece of memorabelia---everyone was so incredibly supportive and agreeable...and it was all around a finish of your tee shot from 13 on Wednesay...at the pro-am; same place you okayed a shot with me last year, and autographed later. Very memorable. Wanted to say thank you for your gracious, generous, wonderful and caring support of all of us fans in your journey. And thank you and your family for a wonderful day today. I realized it had nothing to do with score but with who you are and whom you have been to all of us. An inspiration, a legacy, a wonderful experience. Thank you so much. Best of luck to you on your next Chapter.

Thanks for the memories.

It's hard to add anything because it has all been said above. As we told Mike today, we wish you both many, many years of happiness together. We enjoyed being with you on the course every day this week. There were a lot of heavy hearts here today, but that will give way to positive thoughts as you move towards the next phase of your life. Thank you so much for letting us be very much a part of your golf family.

Dear Annika,

God bless you, you child of God! You are truly the best! You are such a wonderful role model for not only countless young women who personally aspire to a top amateur or professional golf career, but to all of us, men and women, who deeply love the game of golf, and who treasure the eternal traditions of this most wonderful and awesome game. Your incredible career achievements in the game of golf are surpassed only by your downright decency as a real person, and your first class demeanor as a an honorable human being.

There has never been as strong as a competitor in sports who had your humility and decency.

Your genuine kindness and good humor and humility in the face of such an incredible level of career accomplishment is truly astounding. You have been an inspiration to golf fans worldwide. I (and we your fans) can only wish you the very best in your future personal family life (and your ongoing ambassadorship to the game of golf if it is in your plans). In the South U.S. we refer to people like you as "good folks." That is about all that need be about you around here.

Thanks again so much for your wonderful golf, what must be your God given sense of grace, and your downright down to earth goodness and kind demeanor to your fans and others you have come into contact with! I wish you and your family the very best in the days and years to come. Please do not become a stranger to the public world of golf!

Best wishes, and Godspeed,

Curtis Elliott

It is so sweet to see how much the fans affect you but you have given much more to us then we could ever give to you. I've seen you play many many times and have met you a few and those experiences have changed my life forever. Its sad your career is ending and I'll never get to see you play in person again but I will never forget them and I hope you get the happiness you deserve with Mike and a new family. The sports world couldnt have a better role model. You have made this world a better place for more people then youll ever know. The people on this board is just a very small sampling of the affect you have had and will continue to have after your last shot has been hit. Its been my pleasure to be a fan and support you all these years.

Annika,
You're simply the BEST!!
Good luck the next chapter with Mike and having kids.
All the best to your family!
Go Annika!!!!!!!!

You have a rare combination of competitiveness, humility, integrity, generosity and class. As a woman and an athlete, I am grateful to have had the privelege of watching you over the years, and thankful that our young female athletes have such an inspirational role model! Thank you!

You've been a class act throughout your career, amazing professional. The best there ever was to play woman's golf. You'll be missed. All the best to you!!! God bless

Dear Annika
As I watched your post-match interview, where you teared up, I teared up, too. Sweet sadness, indeed. But mostly joy. I'm thankful for what you allowed us to share with you over the years. You inspired generations. Yours' is the graceful, legendary "touch" of all true champions...and your quiet magic touched generations. Old and new. You created a bright future for the game you love. You carried the bright torch of greatness for adoring fans and colleagues. You made proud the friends and family who cherish you more than they can ever say -- there aren't words to say it just right. May your journey continue to be blessed with much sweetness and joy. I honor you, your lasting achievements and, most importantly, the privilege of knowing that I can say, "I saw Annika. Perhaps the best there ever was." I wish you only love and happiness. From my family to yours.

Annika,

Thanks for all the excitement you've given us over the years. Golf will just not be the same without you.

I wish you all the best for the future.

Cheers
Peter

Hi Annika, All the best thanks for the memories and I wish you all the best for the future.

Thank you for being YOU!

Hope you stay and visit on the weekend at the tournament. Believe you'll wish you had later if you don't - this particular time will never come again even if you return as we hope.
Don't see any reason to doubt the testing was other than random. I work in statistics, and in random events the same chance is there each time. I just don't think the LPGA would pinpoint you, especially because you stand out as a person and have helped such a deserving cause as the LPGA. I'm not a country club person, but I'll start going to the Jamie Farr.
One round doesn't detract from your great effort over 15 years. Your decision to do what you want at this point with your life is something I believe you'll be glad you did.
What you've done transcends golf.

Hi Annika,
You played so well yesterday and if only a few of those putts could have dropped - we could have all been treated to another day or so of following you on the course. Its been a priviledge to walk with you (and the galleries of fellow dedicated Annika fans) these last 2 days - and all the many times before. We so hope that the future will provide some opportunities for you to pick up the clubs competitively again. For now tho, thank you for all the wonderful Annika memories and for your wholehearted dedication to golf and to being the best ever. We will miss you so very much.....
P.S. Good luck in Singapore and Dubai.

Annika,

Cheers for all the amazing golf over the years.

I was so pleased I was able to volunteer and watch you play this year in Ottawa at the CN Canadian Women's Open.

I have marked my golf balls "Annika" for years now and will continue to coin my good shots "Annika shots"!

Keep in touch.

Jane

Annika,
It's odd and at the same time heart-warming that I can feel such a range of emotions (happiness, sadness, pride) for a person I have had the pleasure of seeing only twice in person. Your personality and grace on and off course commands attention from your fans. I will surely miss that! I know you are off to great things and they are all well-deserved. I just want to take this space to tell you how much joy you have given me over the years! I loved watching the amazing golf you played and the incredibly classy way you went about your life.
Congratulations on a stellar career and my warmest wishes for a happy life with Mike, your children, and your business ventures!
Joni Granwehr

Hi Annika,

I too shed some tears wathing your final round. You are a class act! I was lucky enough to see you play live at 9 events over the years and you are truly an inspiriation to women and girls all over the world. We will miss you. I really enjoy this website and your blog. I love the photos and the videos. I wish you and Mike all the best in the future.

Thank you so much for giving me inspiration every day ever since I started playing golf. You are more than just the best in the world: You are ANNIKA Sörenstam, the greatest golfplayer the world has ever seen. No one has ever done this much for Women's Golf as you. What a story, first a shy girl from Sweden who gave away her victories for not giving a speech, to the greatest Athlete in the history, winning more, and still being such a nice and warm woman as you are. I apologize: You are no woman: Maybe a girl inside, but outside, a lady. A lady of pure gold and still soft as silk. Good luck Annika, with everything!

Kjør hardt videre! Lykke til!

Even though I was not able to see you play live at the ADT, I watched all of your play on Golf Channel and thoroughly enjoyed every minute of it. You have provided us with 15 years of stellar golf with your professionalism, competitiveness, and determination in being the best female golf in our time. I really doubt anyone will surpass you in my lifetime.

It was so nice to see your parents, sister, and Mike out there waiting for you on the 18th. Terry has been one lucky guy to have been your caddie for so many years and you two have made a great team.

I'm sad for myself that you are stepping away from professional golf, but it was all on YOUR terms. But I am so happy for YOU that you have found joy and love in your life with Mike and your new endeavors to come.

Wanted you to know that you have picked a fortuitous day for your wedding too - it's one of my son's birthdays that day and he is a joy so I'm sure your marriage to Mike will follow suit. Wishing you the best always.

I know you will dazzle those students at U of A; they don't know what a treat they will be experiencing!

Enjoy a few days rest and play well in Singapore. You are SIMPLY THE BEST!!!!

Annika....you're the best. Thank you for all you've done for women's golf and for all the great memories.

Lycka Till!

It was an amazing experience on Friday watching your last round here surrounded by your many fans, your Academy Team, and of course your family. Thank You so much for all you have given to the game of golf. I wish you and Mike happiness as you go forth in life together. Again. Thank You!

I have enjoyed watching you for years. US Opens, Solheim Cups and lot of other tournaments. I wish you lots of happiness and hope to see you again on the golf course. Enjoy your life and be happy.

You have made Women's golf something special....

Hi, Annika,
I wrote a poem to share my thoughts about your career and your influence on us all. I hope you like it!

Her name is Annika,
And golf is her game.
But now she's stepped back,
It won't be the same.

Her fierce determination,
Style and grace,
Just isn't associated
With any other face.

Her competitors found
That they needed to work
Harder than ever.
They just couldn't shirk.

She made us ALL better
All the the players and fans,
With her skills and work ethic,
All part of the plan.

She gave to so many
In so many ways.
Whether instructing, or signing, or granting last wishes,
These kind acts filled her days.

She'll continue to inspire
No, it doesn't end here
Her giving will continue
For many a year.

In closing, I thank you
for being more than a "star"
But rather the very best role model
To those of us near and those far!

Best wishes in the next chapter of your life, Annika!
Joni Granwehr

Annika,
I watched you play your last LPGA hole and place the pole in the hole saying, "It's over." I managed not to cry to much then. However, my husband and were playing golf the next day and as I put the pole in, I said it's over and I started to sob. My husband was mortified, confused and concerned. He was asking what is wrong - are you sick.....I blubbered, "No, Annika is gone from golf!" He sighed, said "Sorry", and walked off the green. I still have that empty feeling. There will never be anyone to replace you. Thanks for the memories and I wish many happy for your future.

Joyce,
You've expressed exactly what I'm feeling right now . . . "there's an empty feeling".

It's Over as you say and Annika has passed the torch. That's the part that brings the tears . . . at the most UNoportuned time!!

Auh well . . . the tears flush the heart ALSO KNOWING that it's "time" for MIKE & Annika to soar as never before and ohhhh how we want that for them.

They deserve it, and so in that light, we shed tears of GREAT JOY right?
