Annika Honored with GOLF CHANNEL Special

Tuesday at 9 p.m. ET, GOLF CHANNEL will air ANNIKA Celebration, a 90-minute special highlighting all of the activities surrounding the recent three-day event celebrating Annika Sorenstam’s illustrious career.  Hosted and narrated by Kelly Tilghman, the special will feature an 18-hole exhibition match at GINN Reunion Resort, pitting Natalie Gulbis and world No. 1 Lorena Ochoa against Paula Creamer and former world No. 1 Sorenstam.  Also featured in the special will be tributes from fellow LPGA professionals, friends and celebrities in attendance for the ANNIKA Celebration dinner, as well as a special concert by longtime friend Darius Rucker.

Good Morning.....or Good Evening….

I guess it depends on where on the globe you are. I happen to be in Korea for a golf course design visit. I arrived last night after a long flight.

This project is a 27 hole facility located in the suburbs of Seoul. Hanwha Golden Bay Golf and Resort is a wonderful area consisting of beautiful mountain and ocean views. Hanwha is huge here and they have businesses ranging from chemical to personal and commercial real-estate, to resorts.

This is my first design in Korea and I am very excited to be part of this opportunity. As you all know, golf continues to grow in this part of the world and thanks to players like Se Ri Pak, women golfers are very popular here. The sun is shining and I better get going.

We have a long day ahead as we are covering all 27 holes today. The routing of the course was done months ago and the bulldozers are now working full time so that the shaping will be finalized in a month. The plan is to start seeding the grass this spring/ summer. So far we are on schedule. Have a good day / good night….

Exciting News....

 Mike and I are very pleased to announce that we expecting our first child. We have had a lot of exciting changes in the past few months, and adding a new addition to our family later this fall will certainly be at the top of that list.  We are absolutely thrilled and look forward to this new chapter of our lives!  We appreciate the love and support that we have received from our family, friends, and of course my fans.

Moving Day.....

Good evening from Orlando.  Mike and I are relaxing at home having just watched the Magic win another one. Tomorrow, we go down to Miami to the CA Championship PGA Tour event where I will be previewing my new fragrance.  

While tomorrow will be moving day on all of the Tours, our moving day will come in a few weeks....literally.  I am proud to share that we have purchased a new home and will move later this month.  However, we are not going far....just a little nine iron across the 16th fairway here at Lake Nona.  Ironically, we are moving into the former home of another Callaway Staff member who is also in the Golf Academy business.....David Leadbetter. 

We have gotten to know the Leadbetter family over the years, and will certainly miss them in the community.  However, Mike and I are excited about our new purchase as this will be our dream house together.  Have a good weekend!

Annika to Preview New Fragrance

The appearance will be Saturday, March 14, 2009 from 11 a.m.- 12:45 p.m. in the upper level of the Pro Shop at Doral Golf Resort and Spa, a Marriott Resort.  Annika will be signing autographs and handing out samples of her new perfume, ANNIKA by Annika Sorenstam. A clubhouse or VIP ticket is required to enter the Pro Shop. 

Marking the first time a professional female golfer has launched a signature fragrance, ANNIKA by Annika Sorenstam will particularly appeal to golf enthusiasts, career-minded professionals and active, fashion-forward women.  Like Annika, the fragrance will be casually elegant and unpretentious. 

“Developing this fragrance with SA Fragrances has been an exciting new adventure,” said Annika.  “I’m pleased to give golf fans a sneak peek and see their reaction.”  

The fragrance will be available in stores in the United States, United Kingdom, Canada and Scandinavia beginning in May 2009, but pre-ordering is currently available online at www.annikafragrance.com.

Annika Speaks At Guaranty Bank SMU Athletic Forum on March 5th

Hall of Fame golfer Annika Sorenstam will share stories of her brilliant 15-year career at the Southern Methodist University Athletic Forum in Dallas, Texas on Thursday, March 5.   

Honoring the legends of sports for 16 years, the SMU Athletic Forum celebrates outstanding success in athletics.  Dozens of the greatest sports figures of all time have participated in the Athletic Forum, including Charles Barkley, Yogi Berra, John Elway, Wayne Gretzky, Reggie Jackson, Magic Johnson, Sugar Ray Leonard, Walter Payton, Cal Ripken, Jr. and Nolan Ryan.
