Milken Institute Global Conference

Greetings from LA.  We are here for the Milken Institute Global Conference.  It is the 12th annual conference with global leaders from all areas of business holding meetings and seminars covering a wide range of topics.  I am a guest of Athletes for Hope and will be participating as a panelist for the philanthropic portion tonight along with Andre Agassi, Mia Hamm, Tony Hawk, and Chris Waddell.  We will be speaking to 1500 of the most generous, powerful people from the corporate world.....including 28 CEO's.  Fitness and nutrition for children has become a huge issue as obesity rates continue to rise, which leads to health issues and eventually a shorter life expectancy......which we can NOT have!  It will be a tremendous opportunity for me to share my passion and the vision for my Foundation.  Don Ochsenreiter, our Foundation President and Mike are here as well to network with this incredible group.

As always, we have decided to fit a few more things onto our plates.  I will be leaving in a couple hours to be a guest on the Best Damn Sports Show, which should be fun!  More interviews in the morning and then we are off to Livermore for our wine launch later this week.

Sharing some memories

Latest Adventure

We have been very busy this week.  On Thursday we flew to Scottsdale where I met a group of buyers at high end golf clubs who support the ANNIKA Collection.  Then on Friday I participated in a golf clinic, outing, and dinner for a company who distributes electronics around the country. The money raised went to the Boys and Girls Club at Scottsdale, along with my Foundation. I am thankful for their generous donation and it will come to very good use as we continue to teach children to live a healthy, active lifestyle and provide opportunities for aspiring junior golfers to reach their full potential.

On Saturday morning, Mike and I continued our journey to his favorite place on earth….Carmel, CA. We were there on behalf of Lexus for the Pebble Beach Food and Wine Festival which concluded yesterday. This is the second year for this event and I must say it was quite impressive.  There were dozens of famous chefs from different parts of the country who displayed their best recipes and treated us to incredible tastings. Celebrity Chef Thomas Keller from the French Laundry was here.  As a food enthusiast and someone who regularly enjoys the Food Network and Food Magazine, I was excited to see him again…..he is also a big golf fan! Last night we attended an incredible dinner overlooking Pebble Beach’s historic 17^th hole. It was magnificent!

As for the wine, 250 vineyards from all over the world participated. Unfortunately, I was not able to enjoy this part of the festival for obvious reasons.  However, Mike did his part and tried the wines for both of us.  Wente Vineyards, with whom I have partnered on my new Syrah, was here.  We gave away a few bottles each day in promotions with Lexus, but will wait until our launch May 1^st in Livermore, CA to let the public taste it. It has gotten rave reviews from those who have tried it thus far, so we are excited!

Mike and I truly appreciate the places that this wonderful game of golf has taken us….we are lucky!

Annika Update

Good evening.

We just returned home after a fun couple of days.  Yesterday we went to Myrtle Beach where I played in the "Hootie and the Blowfish Monday After the Masters Pro-Am." Once again I was paired with Darius Rucker and we had a great time. There were lots of actors, musicians, comedians and golfers there to raise money for schools in South Carolina with a tournament and concert. Last night we were able to attend their concert at the House of Blues and had a blast! 

This morning we flew to Virginia for the Media Day for the upcoming Michelob Ultra Open.  Driving into the Kingsmill Resort brought back special memories from my win there last year. It was great to see the staff at Kingsmill as well as my friends at Anheuser Busch.

We are home tonight and tomorrow before we hit the road again for five days. We'll keep you posted.
