Today is moving day at the McDonald's LPGA Championship. Anna Nordqvist is playing well and has the lead at the halfway point. I find myself pulling for her as she won a scholarship I created called the Annika Sorenstam Scholarship back in 2004. She also visited my Academy earlier this year and I shared some insight as to what she can expect in her rookie year, and we discussed how we can help her as a member of the ANNIKA Team. Needless to say, we want to wish her well in her quest to make a Major Championship her first LPGA victory. I can speak from experience in saying that this is very possible if she stays in the moment and focuses on one shot at a time. It's hard not to look ahead and think about winning, and there will be some extra nerves when Lorena makes her move, but Anna must think only about the next shot.
On another note, we fly to Switzerland this evening, but really enjoyed our time here in Sweden. It has been a very busy week, but also very touching. We had our final "event" today at BroBalsta Golf Club, where they opened the "Sorenstam Wall of Fame" (see photo) in honor of Charlotta and me. We grew up there riding our parents pull carts like a horse, diving for balls in the ponds, and eventually playing junior events. We will show some photos of the room at a later date.
Have a great Saturday everyone.....be sure to follow my Twitter updates!
Annika and Mike,
We will be pulling for Anna this weekend as well! There is no doubt about the positive impact/inspiration you've had on her both on and off the course. Looks like you have had a positive influence on those young ladies in Sweden this week as well.
Congats to you Mike on a banner year! With the Steelers, Pens, and Mt. Union all winning, not mention marriage to your sweetie and becoming a dad, we imagine things could not be much better for you!
Best of luck with the IOC and safe travels to all-
BK

What an impressive week. Many congrat to Lotta and you for your "wall of fame" in Bro. Oh what a joy to share something like that with a Sister.
Mike? to think the "best" is yet to come with the little one making her debue in the fall.
For this week on the LPGA all my cheers will be with Anna

Shouldn't there be an "Annika on Twitter" quick link on the left frame? So followers can add and follow easily?

Wow, in years past you've been on the other side of Lake Geneva influencing the history of golf in the LPGA @ the Evian Masters, now on the Swiss side possible changing the history of GOLF outright for men and women to compete in the Olympics.
Geeze, this is incredible!! Best to the Olympic team...
PS I agree with Rita Goh above

Annika & Mike,
Thanks for your photos & updates on the Annika Cup this week. What a wonderful week in Sweden. That Annika Wall of Fame is such a nice tribute to favorite "daughters" at the course where you both learned & played your Jr. Golf.
As Anna Nordqvist climbed the leaderboard, I found myself pulling for the rookie. Shad gives credit to you & your coach in her interviews.
Good luck @ the IOC on MOnday. Safe Travels.

Annika,
Another Champion has come the results of taking to heart what you've said and done by way of demonstration.
Celebrate hearty with Anna as much as with those right there on the course.
Didn't know that a major championship winner has a 5 year exemption into the US Womens Open.
What a great pleasure for all of us to see that now she gets to just concentrate on playing the rest of year.
Think how excited the juniors are that know both of you are--think how much that simple statement from your Dad that became your passion--There are NO shortcut to success--will be solidified in our hearts even more.
