Wow-yesterday was quite a day! I wanted to share a brief recap on Geoff Shackelford’s Golf Digest blog with you from the Health Matters conference, hosted by President Clinton's Foundation. His kind words mean a lot to me and I appreciate him taking notice that health & wellness is certainly not something I take lightly. I 100% stand behind the mission of my Foundation, to teach children the importance of living a healthy and active lifestyle through fitness and nutrition, and am very passionate about this cause.
Here is an excerpt from Geoff's blog:
- Notah Begay and Annika Sorenstam both spoke about their interests in the area of health and both not only held their own on a stage with talented speakers and an audience full of health care professionals, but represented the world of golf in high quality fashion. Both are eloquent and knowledgeable when discussing their causes. They are certainly not just lending their name to a foundation for tax purposes. These are genuine, involved and impressive individuals. Golf is lucky to have them.

Congrads for your great efforts and accomplishments on and off the course. I was upset about the comment that was made by someone calling himself "Press Agent" where he accused you of attahcing your name to anything to make a buck. He must live on another planet. He does not know the heart of a true competitor who approached life with a passion for other people. My opinion of you was cemented when I saw you play your last Nabisco---you were so sick on Saturday that had to lay on your back awaiting your turn on the tee. You came back on Sunday to finish 3rd. That is the sign of a champ---stay happy and focused.

Congratulations to you on another big W! You were Amazing. Those who know you and who have followed your career know how dedicated and passionate you are about every challenge you take on, but it's always nice to have someone else recognize it and bring it to the forefront. You continue to be a great champion, and you are a great example for professional sports and especially our youth. :) Go Annika!
